How to attach an image to your Plak

Plak doesn’t allow images to be uploaded, and this is for good reason. Firstly, images tend to chew up huge amounts of valuable disk space, which could otherwise be used for data. Secondly, in most cases, the image you’d like to attach to your Plak already exists on your Plak’s website.

So, if Plak doesn’t allow images to be uploaded, how do you attach an image to your Plak?

It’s called Hot-linking. Yes it’s true that most webmasters take a rather dim view of Hot-linking, but seeing as this is your Plak, with a Hot-link to an image hosted on your website, you probably won’t mind :)

If you use Firefox, here is how you obtain the image URL

Navigate to the page that contains the image you want to attach to your Plak.
Right click the image, and select Copy Image Location from the context menu.
Firefox will then copy the URL for that particular image onto the clipboard.
You can now paste the image URL into Plak by selecting the image URL field and pressing Ctrl + V.

If you use Internet Explorer, here is how you obtain the image URL

Navigate to the page that contains the image you want to attach to your Plak.
Right click the image, and select Properties from the context menu.
A little window will pop up.
In the little window look for Address: (URL)
Highlight the address by dragging your mouse over it, making sure that you include the http:// bit.
Press Ctrl + C. The URL for that particular image will be copied onto the clipboard.
You can now paste the image URL into Plak by selecting the image URL field and pressing Ctrl + V.

If your Plak doesn’t have a website, or if the image you want to attach to your Plak isn’t on its website, please use one of the numerous free image hosting services available on the Internet. Flickr Is probably the most widely known and widely used image hosting service on the Internet.

@Daryl-Anne Leveton: Read carefully. It says . If you follow the instructions, you’ll end up with the full image URL on the clipboard. You then just paste that URL into the appropriate field on Plak.
