For some strange reason, people seem to have difficulty locating the position of an establishment they want to add to Plak, on the map. All it takes is clicking the Satellite button to get a detailed satellite image, but anyway…
So yesterday, in an attempt to make life a little easier, I added the Find GPS Location functionality. The functionality is attached to a button in the Plak sidebar.

Clicking the Find GPS Location button will open a popup window that should look something like the image shown below.

The Find a GPS Location offers two different searches. 1) A search using GPS coordinates supplied in a decimal format, and 2) a search using GPS coordinates supplied in degrees, minutes and seconds.
Both searches are limited to finding locations that are more-or-less within the geographical bounds of South Africa. There is good reason for this. Plak is a South African website, and I don’t want the Find GPS Location functionality to be abused. i.e. It’s NOT there for locating aunt Fanny’s house in Brisbane, or for locating uncle Harold’s chicken coop in Manchester.
The latitude for decimal searches must be a negative number, as negative latitudes indicate a latitude that is south of the equator.
After supplying the required information for the GPS location you want to find, click the Go button. The Plak map will centre itself on that GPS location, and will zoom in close enough to allow the adding of a Plak. A small red X will also be displayed, indicating the exact position of the GPS location.
